FACCE-JPI pre-announces the ERA-NET-Cofund on Sustainable Crop Production (SusCrop). The indicative total available budget amounts to 17.2 million €. The call is expected to open on January 15, 2018 with a closing date for pre-proposals on 4 April, 2018.

Background and general information of this call:

The ERA-NET-Cofund on Sustainable Crop Production (SusCrop) is a new ERA-Net Cofund under Horizon 2020 that will announce the first transnational Call in the field of sustainable crop production. The main purpose of the co-funded Call is to improve the sustainability and resilience of crop production within the European Research Area (ERA) by supporting transnational research projects on this topic. Joint projects must have a minimum of three eligible partners applying for funding from a minimum of three different SusCrop partner countries.

The Call will open on January 15, 2018 and the submission deadlines of this two-stage Call are:
- Pre-proposals: April 4, 2018, 13:00 h (CEST)
- Full proposals: August 31, 2018, 13:00 h (CEST)

Aim and scope of the joint Call:

The aim of the Call is to support excellent, transnational research projects that contribute to the improvement of sustainability and resilience of crop production.
The submitted proposals must be multidisciplinary and should address at least one of the following topics:
I. Enhancement of predictive breeding technologies and development of new genotypes leading to new phenotypes and crop varieties for improvement of plant health, protection, production and resilience
II. Development and exploitation of novel integrated pest and crop management methods and practices
III. Improvement of resource-use efficiency of crops and cropping systems
IV. Systemic research on agricultural crops as part of an ecosystem including interactions between plants and other organisms (“the plant as a meta-organism”)
The SusCrop co-funded Call will support basic and applied crop research.

The indicative total Call volume is ~€17.2 million and 23 funding organisations from 18 countries are involved.
